The Climate Risk Management section is dedicated to publishing research focused on understanding and addressing the challenges posed by climate change on various aspects of society and the environment.

Led by Prof. Sirkku Juhola from the University of Helsinki, the Climate Risk Management section welcomes submissions in the various domains of climate risk management to integrate knowledge across disciplines and inform decision-making processes.

Topics considered in the scope of this section include:

actionable knowledge for risk management and resilience
climate impacts, extreme events, health, migration, and security
climate-resilient pathways (integration of mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable development)
interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary methods and frameworks for studying and acting on climate risk
issues of equity, power, and fairness in risk management
political, economic, and cultural dimensions of risk assessment, adaptation, and mitigation
risk mitigation measures, adaptive capacity, and sustainability
risk-driven approaches to development and governance
understanding, comparing, and critiquing different ways of formulating and governing climate risk
vulnerability, adaptation, risk assessment, and resilience metrics and indicators

Submissions should provide detailed, in-depth knowledge about the various aspects of climate risk management and their implications for decision-making processes.

In particular, the section welcomes submissions which support and advance the understanding of climate risk management, risk-driven approaches to development and governance, vulnerability, adaptation, risk assessment, resilience metrics and indicators, risk mitigation, adaptive capacity, sustainability, climate-resilient pathways, actionable knowledge for risk management and resilience, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary methods, climate impact, extreme events, health, migration, and security, and political, economic, and cultural dimensions of risk assessment, adaptation, and mitigation (SDGs 13: Climate Action, 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, 3: Good Health and Well-being, 10: Reduced Inequalities, and 17: Partnerships for the Goals).

The Climate Risk Management section does not consider fields of study that focus solely on the physical aspects of climate extremes, monitoring and modeling systems for tracking such events, or topics unrelated to climate change and its impacts. However, submissions that integrate these topics with climate risk management strategies, climate change adaptation, and mitigation efforts, or address the social, economic, and cultural dimensions of risk assessment, adaptation, and mitigation are welcome. Additionally, while the section does not primarily focus on women's health or other medical issues, submissions that demonstrate a fundamental basis in climate risk management strategies or climate change adaptation will be considered.

This multidisciplinary section is at the forefront of disseminating and communicating cutting-edge scientific knowledge and impactful discoveries in the field of climate risk management to researchers, industry, policymakers, and the public worldwide.
